Frequently asked questions

Find clear answers about this product, from choosing it to putting it to use.

Ask our team
Will it fit my water bottle?
The Solo fits most standard 28 mm bottle threads, but not every bottle. Check the seal and fit before your trip.
Can I use it without a bottle?
Yes. You can use it as a straw to drink directly from a suitable freshwater source. The bottle is not included.
What does the membrane filter?
It targets bacteria, parasites, microplastics and sediment. It does not remove viruses or dissolved salt; never use it for seawater or chemically contaminated water.
When should I replace the Solo?
LifeStraw rates it for up to 2,000 liters. Regular backwashing helps maintain flow. Replace the Solo when the maintained filter no longer passes water.
How do I clean it?
Backwash after each day of use with the included threaded syringe and drinking water. Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and long-term storage instructions linked below.
