Use & care
- Open the caps and take several firm sips to start flow. If the membrane needs priming, rest the open intake in water for 20 seconds.
- After drinking, blow air back through the mouthpiece to clear debris. Rinse the caps and close them between uses.
- For storage longer than a month after use, follow LifeStraw’s saline-storage instructions below. The cleaning guide explains disinfection before extended storage.
Keep the mouthpiece clean. Do not use a cracked filter or expose it to freezing temperatures or heat above 140°F / 60°C. Never use it for seawater or chemically contaminated water.

Frequently asked questions
Find clear answers about this product, from choosing it to putting it to use.
What does the Peak Series straw filter?
It targets bacteria, parasites, microplastics and sediment. It does not remove dissolved minerals, heavy metals or chemicals, and is not intended for saltwater.
How long does the filter last?
LifeStraw rates this model for up to 1,000 gallons (4,000 liters). Water stops passing through at the end of its working life. The internal filter is not replaceable; replace the straw.
Can I use it with a water bottle?
Yes, the removable lower cap exposes threads for some standard 28 mm bottles. It can also connect to compatible gravity-system hoses. Check the connection before your trip.
How do I keep the flow working well?
Backwash by blowing air through the mouthpiece after drinking, then rinse the caps. Follow the linked storage guide when putting an already-used straw away for longer than a month.
What comes with it?
One personal filter straw in your selected color and the user manual. A water bottle, gravity bag and carry case are not included.
