Use & care

Purge both ends of each element with cold water as shown in the manufacturer’s instructions. Install beneath already-primed Black Berkey elements; do not exceed eight rotations. Discard the first filtered batch after installation.

Do not boil the elements. Remove PF-2 elements before running a red-food-color test on the main filters. Water quality and pH affect performance and service life.

Are these the main Berkey filters?
No. These are add-on reduction elements that attach below compatible Black Berkey filters. The main filters and water system are sold separately.
How many do I need?
Use one PF-2 for each installed Black Berkey element. This listing contains two PF-2 elements.
When should the pair be replaced?
Under normal conditions, replace the pair after 1,000 gallons or one year, whichever comes first. High contaminant levels can shorten usable life.
Do they need preparation before installation?
Yes. Purge each element from both ends with cold water, then follow the installation guide. Do not over-tighten or exceed eight rotations.
Will these slow the flow?
The manufacturer says PF-2 elements reduce flow by approximately 15–20%. Flow can slow further as the lower chamber fills.
